Summer Research Scholarships 2009-2010

A Summer Research Scholarship at The Australian National University is an exceptional research opportunity, giving you insight into what Honours or studying for a higher degree is all about, and working with leading scholars in your field.

Who can apply?

The scholarships are available for students currently enrolled in Australian and New Zealand universities completing the third or fourth year of a full-time course leading to an honours degree.

What do Summer Research Scholars do?

Summer scholars work closely with an academic supervisor on a research topic of their choice. Students have a unique opportunity to work with researchers who are international leaders in their fields. The summer research scholarship also allows students to experience a specialist research environment first-hand.

At the conclusion of the research project summer scholars submit a brief report on their findings.

What does the scholarship entail?

The Scholarship provides a contribution towards travel expenses to and from Canberra based on economy railfares at student concession rates (or, for people from more distant parts of Australia, and New Zealand, economy-class airfares), accommodation and all meals at a residential college on campus and a weekly allowance of $135 (tax exempt).

A Summer Scholarship offers...
