Introduction

The Colleges of Science Building Project necessitates RSC vacating their existing workshop facility to allow the Facilities & Services (F&S) Workshop to use this facility, noting that the existing F&S Workshop is being demolished to allow the construction of the Central Plant Facility required for the new Biology, Chemistry, Teaching and other buildings.
As part of this process, RSC, RSB & JCSMR have agreed to investigate and consolidate their workshop facilities to ensure the continued effectiveness of these facilities; to provide leading-edge workshop equipment and infrastructure; to maintain and further develop the high skill level of workshop staff; to enhance critical mass and associated coverage; and to provide a clear and achievable career structure for all workshop staff.
The revision of the original change management proposal to include the John Curtin
School of Medical Research has come about through the recognition of the potential synergies in the operations of workshops as between the three Schools in also using the available equipment and space in the workshop of the John Curtin School of Medical Research.
