
Many academic and general staff will be required to undertake official travel as part of their work. There are a number of policies at the University and local area level which govern approvals and arrangements to enable you to undertake travel. Whenever possible the University and the College will endeavour to simplify the process for arranging your travel as much as possible. Please do however take the time read through the information provided through links on this page to familliarise yourself with requirements of the University and your local area. Online Travel Manager
Arranging your travel to ensure you comply with all University policies can be a difficult task. The ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment and ANU College of Physical Sciences have created an online
Travel Manager to assist you complete your Approval to Travel Form. All staff of our Colleges are strongly encouraged to use the Travel Manager, as it draws together all University travel related policies and is a one stop shop for ensuring that you meet all your travel obligations.
University Travel Portal
There are many potential considerations when make arrangements for your travel, including travel expenditure, insurance, travel advisories, health risks, purchasing, passport and visa requirements. In addition travel must be approved by your supervisor as well as the delegate for your local area. If you are traveling to a high risk destination you will even require approval from your College Director or even the Vice-Chancellor.

ATO Reasonable Travel Allowance Rates
When determining budgets for domestic and international travel, all staff should consider the ATO Reasonable Travel Allowance rates. These are the rates set by the ATO for the financial year 2009/10.
Please note that some Schools do not fund staff travel at 100% of the ATO rate. Please consult your School business office for further advice.
